The venue is located at the heart of the tourist and commercial area. There is a wide range of hotels to choose from near the conference venue. Participants will make their own arrangements for accommodation and transport to and from the airport.
The best way to get to Madrid is by air. Most of the international non-Schengen arrivals will be to the new terminal 4. Transport from Barajas Airport to Madrid is easy, either by taxi (app. 35 €), or by underground (metro). There is a Metro stop at the airport and another barely 50 metres from the Ambassador hotel ( Opera or SantoDomigo metro stations). A metro single trip to the airport costs 2€. Inside Madrid, the best way to move around is also the underground. There are also many buses and the taxi fares are relatively cheap.
Nationals from countries outside the EU should check whether they need a visa to travel to Europe. As the visa process can be long, participants are advised to apply at least 20 days prior to travel. IOM will send to each embassy/consulate a list of the nationals that will be applying for a visa, and will fax or email a presentation letter to each participant.
